8el?s Private DSL service offers cost effective and secure connectivity between remote and central offices. By utilising SDSL/ADSL technology a dedicated, private circuit is established to deliver fast, secure and quality data transit for a fraction of the cost of running traditional Frame-Relay or Kilostream connections.

The Solution

8el's DSL connection can transfer Internet as well as site-to-site traffic simultaneously and securely using ATM layer2 properties. Unlike the majority of DSL offerings, data does not pass through a 'public' ISP cloud before connecting to 8el's secure core network. Instead, as with more expensive Frame Relay or Kilostream solutions, 8el is able to provide dedicated, fast and secure access from any DSL enabled remote site into 8el's core ATM network. Using 8el's uncontended service contention rates of 1:1 are delivered, meaning exclusive use of the circuit and guaranteed bandwidth for each customer.

8el provides robust Cisco CPE at each DSL connected site. In addition to network monitoring this provides customers with additional resilience in the form of ISDN backup. For example, data access can be re-routed in the event of DSL affecting issues.

Bandwidth availability up to 2Mbps

8el is easily able to meet the bandwidth needs of most medium sized enterprises through its Private DSL WAN service; a choice of 256Kbps, 512Kbps, 1Mbps and 2Mbps of private, un-contended bandwidth is available. SDSL is synchronous and has the same upload and download speed, whilst ADSL has variable download speed but fixed 256Kbps upload speed.

Support and Monitoring

To run 8el's Private DSL WAN service the only necessary customer premises equipment needed is a modem device known as an 8el freeport. By investing and installing this equipment, 8el is able to provide remote support for customers DSL connections from its operation centre.

Furthermore, 8el's on-line network monitoring service (8elWatch) provides powerful information about bandwidth usage and other useful network statistics if required. Standard and tailored reports are available via a secure web page and can highlight potential network issues and help customers make more informed decisions.
