WAN network
8el has extensive experience in building robust, private networks that support many leading UK businesses. Each of 8el's WAN network solutions is designed to be resilient, secure and closely tailored to cater for immediate and future customer requirements. 8el runs an MPLS core to enable varying QoS based differentials.
Access technologies
Customer's sites can be connected into an 8el Wide Area Network via a blend of different access technologies including:
| Access Circuit | Access Technology | Capacity Options |
| LAN Extension Services (LES) | Ethernet | 10Mbps scalable to 1000Mbps |
| Leased Line | PDH/SDH | ATN 2-8Mbps (using IMA) 34, 45, 155Mbps |
| DSL | L2TP | 256, 512Kbps, 1Mbps, 2Mbps Max and ADSL2+ |
LAN Extension Services
LAN Extension Service (LES) are a key part of 8el's WAN network solution. LES connectivity offers superior performance, and is cost effective and easier to deploy and manage compared to other WAN technologies. 8el offers a flexible choice of capacity on a single circuit from 10Mbps to 1000Mbps. LES enables 8el to implement fast, powerful converged networks that support voice, data and video applications. LAN is the ideal access method for VoIP as the IP stays as IP (with no conversion) throughout the network.
ADSL connectivity
8el's fully managed, private DSL service offers cost effective and secure connectivity between small offices, home office (SOHO) and an organisation's head office. By utilising SDSL and ADSL technology, a dedicated private circuit is established to deliver fast and secure, quality data transit for a fraction of the cost of running traditional Frame-Relay or Kilostream connections.
Additionally, as the services are delivered over a private infrastructure this will reduce the cost and management overhead of configuring a public VPN solution with multiple firewalls.
8el's private DSL services include:
- ADSL
- ADSL MAX and ADSL2+
- SDSL 512Kbps, 1Mbps and 2Mbps
Colocation services
8el is able to provide secure, fully managed colocation environments for organisations who wish to outsource all or part of the management of their technical infrastructure or provide a logical environment for centralised services.
8el's highly resilient core network include two separate key colocation facilities. This approach can be adopted to negate any single points of failure.
WAN Network monitoring tools
8el offers customers increased visibility and control of their network with their AppFlow and 8elWatch online network monitoring tools. Network monitoring is critical to provide the level of information required to run an efficient network. Poor visibility of network data can result in poor performance, a lack of control and creates potential exposure to an organisation.
Why is network monitoring so important?
- Better planning for future requirements
- Empowering IT professionals with the tools to make informed decisions
- Bespoke reporting to cover specific customer requirements
- Automatic alerting of network issues before they become service affecting
8elWatch is provided as the standard network monitoring tool that allows IT Managers to monitor the performance of the network and data infrastructure online.
AppFlow is the sophisticated Wide Area Network reporting and analysis tool that can pinpoint why a network is running slowly, right down to a user and application level. Features of AppFlow include:
- View data by source or destination
- Display average or maximum protocol usage within period
- Ability to filter top 10 through to top 1,000 talkers
- Graphing options including pie charts, bar, block and radar graphs
Remote Access Solutions
8el provides organisations with cost effective Remote Access Solution that allow different worker communities to remotely and safely connect their laptops or PC’s to their corporate WAN network.
Options include:
- SSL
- Dial up
