8el's innovative VoIP conferencing solution
8el's CallPort Audio Conferencing service is a versatile audio conferencing application for both NGN IP and traditional telephony networks. It provides a complete, cost-effective solution for managed and impromptu conferencing services in a fully scalable environment.
The 8el conferencing platform can handle an almost unlimited number of simultaneous calls for a single conference and has the ability to handle thousands of simultaneous calls at any one time. There are two types of service available to customers:
1) Managed Conferences
Managed Conferences are conferences that are booked in advance with access via pre allocated PIN numbers which are distributed to all the participants prior to the conference. A conference owner or 'Chairperson' is in control of the conference and has their own unique PIN. Another generic PIN is distributed to all other participants of the conference. The PIN allows Participants to dial-in and enter the conference. Alternatively the 'Chairperson' can dial out to Participants and invite them in.
The features and benefits include:
Visualize a conference via the web
All participants of the conference can log on to the conference portal using the PIN provided to them. This will allow them to view a graphical representation of the conference. Each participant is represented by an icon. These icons are interactive and change depending on the state or contribution of the participant. i.e. when someone speaks the icon will change.
Manage multi user conferences
The 'Chairperson' is in control the conference. Their unique PIN gives them the ability to control the conference via keypad tones or driving the web portal. The features include introducing new participants, muting attendees, conference recording and locking.
2) Instant conferences (available to 8el NGN customers only)
This facility is available to 8el NGN accounts and enables users to start and control an 'Instant' conference. Impromptu conferences can be controlled by the 8el soft-client, and enables a call to be extended beyond 3 participants without having to dial into a conference bridge. Whilst users cannot join these conferences by dialling in, the instigator of the conference can invite almost unlimited numbers of users into a managed environment where the call instigator becomes the 'Chairperson' of the conference.
By using the 8el soft-client, users gain 24/7 access to the conferencing platform and the administration is minimised for users to benefit from a collaborative, workgroup style of working regardless of location.
