Single LAN network infrastructure
In instances where IP Phones are part of the Local Area Network, efficient use of a single LAN infrastructure can cut down on the number of network ports required and simplify cabling at the desktop.
In this instance the phone connects to the switch LAN port and the user’s computer then connects into the phone using the phones internal 2 port Ethernet switch.
IP Phone – power options
Whilst IP phones can be powered by a mains adaptor per phone, it is also possible to supply the required power via the Ethernet cable, using Power over Ethernet (PoE). This further reduces cabling to the desk and the requirement for a mains power source for each phone.
