8el offers a flexible range of business Internet services to fit customer's requirements:

8el CoreConnect - Flexible, centralised business Internet services

8el CoreConnect provides businesses with a flexible, fully managed ISP service, providing direct Internet connectivity from the 8el core. The service is aimed at organisations with multiple sites that wish to deploy a Wide Area Network (WAN) via a centralised Internet gateway.

CoreConnect generally requires the customer to co-locate their corporate firewall and provides an option to locate their application or Web servers within one of 8el's purpose built colocation environments. For customers who have chosen to co-locate their servers, CoreConnect provides ideal access to any hosted applications.

Business Internet Service

ISP Connect - Simple, cost effective connectivity

ISP Connect provides new or existing customers with a direct, cost effective, fully managed Internet service. ISP Connect offers Internet access for single site organisations with connectivity from the customer site to the 8el network. Access is provided using a range of un-contended access methods, including leased lines, Ethernet or xDSL.

IP addresses

8el offers a range of IP addresses and is a member of RIPE NCC (Reseaux IP Europeens) and the LIRs (Local Internet Registries).

DNS (Domain Name Services)

8el utilise Verisign’s DNS assurance service to provide customers with an unrivalled Service Level Agreement on DNS.

The benefits include 100% uptime on DNS resolution, backup Internet connections helping to eliminate any single points of failure and a secure platform to prevent intrusions and operational interruptions.

Email store and forward

To ensure a resilient mail service 8el offers a store and forward facility. In the event of a link outage or failure, any email which would normally be delivered to a customer mail server will be collected and stored in a queue on a dedicated mail server.

The forwarding server will be specially configured not to return error messages to the email sender. Mail will simply queue up until such time as the server becomes contactable again. When this happens, mail will flow through to the customer's mail server and a full service will resume. If necessary, with time sensitive content the queued mail can be accessed by the intended recipient via a web browser so they can stay online.

Email and web security

For customers who wish to fully outsource their business internet services security, 8el is working in partnership with SurfControl plc, to offer a complete suite of fully managed security services.

SurfControl deliver highly effective protection against email and web based threats. Services include anti-virus, anti-spam, content filtering and encryption for email, plus protection for the organisation from malicious web content.
