VoIP "the industry of the decade"
VoIP technology has been the "industry of the decade", one market research company has said.
Not only has the industry enjoyed substantial growth from 2000 to 2009, but IbisWorld also suggested that VoIP will show further revenue growth over the next ten years, TMC Net reported.
The market research company states that the VoIP industry has seen a 1,655 per cent increase rate over the last decade, after starting from a zero base rate when it began to earn revenue in 2002.
Revenue gained from the VoIP technology industry is expected to rise by a further 150 per cent up until 2019, according to IbisWorld.
"We forecast SIP trunking service revenue to hit an 89 per cent compound annual growth rate from 2008 to 2013," Diane Myers, Infonetics analyst, added.
Ms Myers has previously stated that VoIP solutions could become more commonplace as unified communications technology grows in popularity.
