VoIP growth 'to stay strong'
The growth of the voice over internet protocol (VoIP) market is expected to stay strong over the next few years, one expert has advised.
George Van Horn, senior analyst at industry research firm IBISWorld, says it is thought that the medium will expand as business awareness and acceptance of VoIP grows, while broadband penetration increases and call quality continues to improve.
He states that VoIP technology is nowexpected to grow at a faster rate than that of the traditional landline networks.
Mr Van Horn's comments come in response to recent findings from market intelligence company In-Stat, which revealed that VoIP penetration is expected to reach some 79 per cent of US businesses over the next few years.
Revenue growth in the medium is predicted to grow by almost double by the year 2013, the report found.
Similarly, IBISWorld recently stated that VoIP was the best-performing industry of the past decade, with the success that was seen in the past ten years expected continue through to 2019.
