Staying connected essential with new technologies

Staying connected essential with new technologiesBeing able to connect to colleagues and contacts at all times is one of the most important capabilities of today's businesses, it has been claimed.

New research from 3 UK found that 14 per cent of people needed to be contacted by phone or email at all times with a further 14 per cent feeling it was necessary to keep in touch with contacts.

A quarter felt the need to deal with work while on public transport and a fifth were happy to stay connected while socialising.

Renato Bottini, head of business at 3 UK, said that this drive for information was being pioneered by the younger generation.

Referring to email and instant message technologies, as well as new developments such as VoIP, Mr Bottini said that they were a "great benefit" to smaller firms.

"We need to make sure that those people are productive and effective and save themselves the most money they can", he explained.
