Irish firm sees benefits of VoIP

Irish firm sees benefits of VoIPAn Irish insurance firm has reduced its phone bill after implementing VoIP solutions.

First Ireland Risk Management decided to adopt the technology as its previous communication system had become outdated, reports siliconrepublic.com.

Following its move to new premises, the company introduced VoIP and benefited from lower phone bills and more efficient communication.

Sarah Sheridan, IT director at First Ireland, claimed the firm is considering expanding the service to its landline network.

"Having the VoIP system gives us options. We recently put in a GSM gateway which has made a big difference to our phone bill already, as calls out to mobiles were the most expensive part of our bill," she told the website.

First Ireland integrated VoIP with its e-mail and voicemail services which enabled the company to manage all communication with one software package.

This reduced infrastructure costs and cut energy bills by around 60 per cent.
