Cost-saving benefits of VoIP 'substantial'
The cost-saving benefits that are offered by voice over internet protocol (VoIP) are "too large to ignore", according to a new report.
Research company Frost and Sullivan stated in its World Enterprise Telephony Platform Markets report that the cost efficiency that the technology offers will be seen to lead the VoIP market forward in the future.
"Today, cost savings, coupled with the need for tools to create a collaborative environment, which in turn drives innovation and productivity, makes IP [internet protocol] essential to their strategy," industry analyst Vanessa Alvarez commented.
She added that VoIP is able to revolutionise the working environment by enabling collaboration and offering a more functional and integrated communications infrastructure.
The report predicted that the platform will have saturated the market by 2014, achieving revenues in the region of $7.6 billion (£4.83 billion).
Monthly recurring fees, call charges and infrastructure investment costs can all benefit from the introduction of VoIP technology, chief executive of voxclever Scott Goodwin recently advised.
