Businesses and consumers are 'embracing VoIP'
Businesses and individual consumers alike are "embracing" the advantages that voice over internet protocol (VoIP) has been seen to offer, one expert has stated.
David Lemelin, practice leader and senior analyst at market intelligence company In-Stat, says that the technology is becoming increasingly popular among enterprises of all sizes because of the benefits that it can offer in terms of allowing employees to work from home.
He adds that he thinks it is realistic to assert that VoIP will be utilised by almost every business in the UK by 2020.
Mr Lemelin's comments come in response to recent predictions from the Dell'Oro Group, which stated that the VoIP industry is expected to experience significant growth over the course of the coming year.
It is thought that improved economic conditions, coupled with an improving housing market, will bolster network modernisation projects from both businesses and individual consumers alike.
Similarly, In-Stat has forecast that 79 per cent of US companies will be using VoIP by 2013.
