8el's new SSL remote access service offers workers easier, more secure access to corporate systems

Reading, UK, November 2nd, 2003 --- Following extensive testing and successful field trials, 8el today announced the launch of a new generation Secure Socket Layer (SSL) remote access service.

Designed for the UK corporate market, this latest addition to 8el's portfolio of voice and data solutions delivers a higher standard of security, simplicity and affordability than previously available from other remote access offerings.

Said Justin Hamilton-Martin, 8el's Managing Director; "With growing communities of remote and home workers, businesses are increasingly faced with the challenge of providing a scalable and practical answer to remote system access.

Our response has been to develop the 8el SSL solution that delivers secure ADSL connectivity for our customers' remote workers at a minimal monthly fee, regardless of number of users and without the expense of an IPVPN or in-house unit."

Using SSL, users are able to remotely gain access to corporate systems via a secure encrypted session using any Internet browser. As a way of providing further security, SSL eliminates open ended, network layer connections between the external user and internal LAN resources. Furthermore, SSL controls direct access to the customer's LAN and is also password encrypted. Additional levels of security can be added via unique user profiles that allow full or partial access to applications as required.
