8el expands co-location facility in response to growing demand for centralised services
Reading, UK, October 29th, 2004 --- Specialist network operator 8el is further investing in its co-location services to help organisations deliver more reliable and efficient data connectivity to network users.
The expansion means 8el will be able to expand the number of customers using its purpose built environment based at TeleCity in London. Demand for co-location is being driven by benefits that include; improved network performance, direct access to the Internet backbone, more dependable network access and 24/7 proactive support of infrastructure.
8el’s decision means it has extended it’s contract with specialists TeleCity, who manage the state-of-the-art data centre in London where 8el host customer equipment. Under the extended contract, 8el will take more rack space at TeleCity’s purpose built co-location environment.
Leading publishing company, Centaur, is one organisation that has recently benefited from 8el's co-location service. Said IT Manager, Steve Moore, “By centralising Internet and email services we now have a more logical structure to our data network and we’re already seeing the benefits. Our exposure to network bottlenecks and some service affecting issues have also been reduced since centralising our infrastructure.”
Network topology affects availability, performance, security, and even running costs. By directing corporate WAN and Internet traffic via its co-location facility, 8el is able to deliver a range of advantages including reduced latency; faster data transfer and improved quality of service over the network. Additionally by centralising Internet access through 8el, improved efficiencies in capacity planning also yield cost savings.
