Virtualisation 'boosting disaster recovery'

Virtualisation 'boosting disaster recovery'Virtualisation technology is helping businesses to refine their disaster recovery plans.

This is according to US technology consultancy firm Interphase Systems, which is due to hold a one-day conference on virtualisation for IT leaders in New Jersey next month.

Noting that virtualisation was recently selected by Gartner as one of the top ten strategic technologies for 2009, Interphase chief executive officer John Biglin said the event was inspired by the technology's growing influence in the disaster recovery plans of leading enterprises.

"Virtualisation continues to gain momentum as a strategic solution for improved system performance, reliability and disaster recovery," he explained.

The Interphase event takes place in Bridgewater, New Jersey on Friday December 5th.

Recent figures from Gartner predict that there will be over four million virtual systems operating around the world by the end of 2009.

IT expert Steve Brown, writing on smallcapnews.co.uk, recently stated that virtualisation offers the benefits of "consolidation, lower total cost of ownership and flexibility"
