Firms set to embrace flexible office technology
Smaller firms in the UK are set to embrace technology which gives them opportunities to increase flexible working within their organisations, it has emerged.
Research by an internet industry company has found that 47 per cent of small to medium-sized businesses in the UK are planning to adopt cloud technology within the next five years.
The increased opportunities for mobile and home working that cloud hosting and software-as-a-service (SaaS) technologies offer was considered the primary attraction for 34 per cent of firms.
Cost savings was the most common reason why companies might switch to cloud, on 35.2 per cent, the research revealed.
Amid the impact of the credit crunch, SaaS-based applications like VoIP can help firms cut costs by allowing them to conduct services over the internet through hosted providers and virtual offices, meaning fewer resources and staff are needed.
Customer Interaction Solutions magazine recently reported that SaaS models can be well-suited for growing small businesses which want to set up their own in-house VoIP call centres.
