Cloud computing keeps outsourcing firms 'ahead of competitors'
Innovations in IT, such as the medium of cloud computing - a form of co-location hosting, are helping to keep outsourcing firms ahead of their competitors, according to one technology consultant.
Patrick O'Brien, senior analyst at Ovum, says that an increasingly progressive approach to new technologies has helped to give certain outsourcing firms an edge over their counterparts.
His comments come in response to recent predictions from the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals, which suggested that advanced tools such as cloud computing and object-relational mapping will allow companies to save money, provide flexibility and improve performance.
Matt Shocklee, US ambassador for the association, advised that cloud computing platforms will help clients and providers optimise the value of outsourcing.
Mr O'Brien concludes that the majority of these firms had a "very positive" outlook on information technology for 2010.
