Cloud computing 'can assist businesses in disaster recovery'
Adopting colocation hosting platforms such as cloud computing can assist small businesses in implementing disaster recovery strategies, it has been revealed.
Rob Lovell, chief executive of ThinkGrid, says that implementing the technology can allow employees to access company information from anywhere in the world.
But despite this, he explains that many small business owners are overlooking the importance of cloud computing because they think it may be an expensive or complicated move.
Mr Lovell states that adopting such technology can be both a simple and economic way to provide a remote data centre location that allows employees to work off-site.
However, this could be set to change - Easynet Connect recently predicted that 2010 will be the "year of the cloud" for small businesses in the UK, with 50 per cent stating that they are using or planning to deploy the technology within the next 12 months.
Some 43 per cent of those surveyed revealed that they consider cloud computing to be essential in enabling home working.
