'Digital citizens' to bring tech boom
Experts are predicting a boom in the uptake of new technology such as Voice over Internet Portal (VoIP).
The prediction comes as the 'digital generation' grow up and begin working, bringing with them an innate understanding of the technology they have been brought up with.
A recent report from Frost & Sullivan suggested that there could be a growth of as much as 13 per cent in the unified communications business over the course of 2008.
It predicts that, by the end of the year, the industry will be worth £2.35 billion.
Azzurri product development director Tony Corlett expects the new wave of tech-savvy young professionals to lead the way in revolutionising how business is conducted.
"When it will change wholesale is when the digital citizens - ie the under 25's -hit the labour market in the next five years.....That's how they communicate with people - in a real time fashion....When these youngsters come into the labour market they are going to want to use similar technology to communicate," he said.
Unified communications combines email, telephone and even video in the one package allowing for more efficient and cost-effective communication.
