Flexibility increasingly the key to outsourcing deals

Flexibility increasingly the key to outsourcing dealsAs they seek to improve efficiency levels, growing numbers of UK businesses are moving away from strict and regimented outsourcing service level agreements (SLAs) in favour of more flexible contracts.

That was the conclusion reached by analysts at the recent OutsourceWorld conference held in London, which saw a number of chief information officers and third-party IT services providers meet to discuss the future of the practice.

Speaking at the event, Angel Dobardziev, an analyst at research company Ovum, was quoted by Computer Weekly as saying: "Businesses are moving from buying outsourcing contracts based on time and material to output."

He added that many SLAs which penalise third-party suppliers for missing targets are likely to work against the best interests of businesses that aim to bring in additional levels of expertise and innovation and could in fact damage working relations between the two parties.

The comments come on the back of a recent report published by E-consultancy.

According to research carried out by the online marketing firm, the past few months have seen a significant increase in the number of businesses outsourcing their search engine optimisation needs to third-parties specialists as they seek to improve their efficiency.
