Mobile communications 'blurring line between work and home'
Mobile communications are increasingly blurring the line between work and personal lives, with growing numbers of people taking work-related calls at home, it has been clamed.
The comments come on the back of new research which found that the number of phone calls made on mobile networks is set to exceed the number made on fixed networks across western Europe by the middle of this year.
According to a YouGov survey commissioned by Inclarity, 31 per cent of UK employees who work in an office make work-related calls from their personal mobile phones more than three times a week, with 65 per cent of these doing so more than twice daily.
Furthermore, with uptake of voice over IP technology on the rise and employers introducing increasingly flexible working conditions, such a blurring of boundaries is set to carry on over the next few years.
Dave Millett, operations director at Inclarity, said: "It's no surprise that mobile voice calls are expected to exceed those on fixed networks."
"Let's face it - mobiles are small and convenient for people who are constantly on the move, even more so with a rapidly changing work culture which is moving towards flexibility, home and remote working."
