Property management firm Gerald Eve win prestigious industry award for best Wide Area Network (WAN) project
8el save Gerald Eve 30% on previous solution
Gerald Eve's information and communications technology team was named winner of the best private sector Wide Area Network (WAN) project at the prestigious Communications in Business awards ceremony which was recently held in Mayfair. Next Generation Network operator 8el supplied Gerald Eve with the award winning converged network delivering significant cost savings, increased capacity and, crucially, a higher quality solution.
Gerald Eve, a national firm of chartered surveyors and property consultants, favoured 8el for its reputation in providing 'Quality of Service' across the network and a comprehensive service level agreement. Warren Stephen, head of ICT for Gerald Eve commented: "We required a supplier that could deliver cost efficiency to the business, protect current revenues and implement business continuity plans to protect against potential disasters."
John Rees, Commercial Director from 8el commented on the return on investment (ROI) to date*. "We have saved Gerald Eve circa 30% on previous WAN annual revenue expenditure. The calculation includes improved end user productivity of 18% based on improved application response times, and a reduction in the amount of time taken to complete processes. The calculation also includes a 12% direct revenue expenditure saving."
Following on from this recent success, Gerald Eve has extended its contract with 8el to include an upgraded data network, enabling 8el to act as a one-stop-shop communications supplier. 8el supplied an increased capacity WAN with private ADSL backup, site-to-site VoIP functionality and internet connectivity for each site via the head office.
The improved 8el network has delivered an 800% increase in bandwidth whilst ensuring quality of service for VoIP and other business critical applications. This allows prioritised access to applications for remote sites and flexibility for the firm to grow without network bandwidth capacity being a hindering factor.
Warren Stephen, Head of Information and Communication Technology at Gerald Eve commented: "To my mind, the speed of implementation of this project made it worthy of an award on its own. Add to that the increase in productivity and immediate financial gain we have experienced, plus creative use of communications technology by 8el, and the justification is compelling. This project was achieved with minimal disruption whilst improving the technology, business continuity, value, speed and ultimately the service provided to every end user across our organisation. The implementation team were proficient, effective and professional in their approach ."
* ROI has yet to be calculated over an annual period.
