Government to investigate faster broadband speed implementation
The government has announced that it is to carry out a review into the future rollout of high speed broadband services as a means of ensuring UK businesses keep pace with their European rivals.
Over recent months, the government has come under criticism from a number of parties due to the UK's relatively slow speeds in comparison to countries such as Sweden, Finland and Germany.
Now it has been confirmed that an investigation is to be carried out into any possible stumbling blocks which may prevent any such upgrades and hinder UK enterprises.
Business and competitiveness minister Baroness Shriti Vadera said in a statement: "The way we will do business, access many government services, as well as information and entertainment, will change beyond recognition over our lifetime."
Baroness Vadera added that the government must take the initiative and "prepare the way" for the rolling out of new technology so as to ensure the UK is not left behind technologically.
Just last month H20 announced that it is to offer super-fast broadband speeds of up to 100Mbps using a next generation of networks to be linked with fibres running through sewerage pipes.
