New Ethernet connection deployed by Carphone Warehouse

New Ethernet connection deployed by Carphone WarehouseCarphone Warehouse Networks (CPWN) has announced the installation of the latest high-performance Ethernet routers.

The internet service provider is using MX960 Ethernet services routers provided by the networking specialist Juniper Networks.

Reportedly the fastest platforms of their type on the market, MX960 routers will form the basis of CWPN's Next Generation Network (NGN).

Currently available to 70 per cent of households in the UK, the network has over a million end-users.

Combining Ethernet and IP technology, the NGN supports the high street firm's landmark TalkTalk broadband offering.

"CPWN has delivered the first mass market end-to-end NGN in the UK, with unmatched reliability and efficiency," said managing director Neil McArthur.

Boosted by the recent acquisition of AOL's UK subsidiary, the Carphone Warehouse has set itself a target of 3.5 million broadband clients by 2010.
