8el customers in the frame for key industry awards
WRVS, Gerald Eve and Morgan Cole recognised for their 8el network solutions
Reading, UK, September, 2006 --- For the second year running, 8el has gained recognition from the Communications in Business (CIB) Awards, by having 3 customers listed as finalists, which is a great acknowledgement of the high quality provisioning of 8el's communication services to UK businesses.
The CIB Awards recognise excellence among networking professionals in the UK, and focus on superior business-enabling projects to a wide range of enterprises and public sector organisations.
The Awards are judged by a highly experienced and knowledgeable panel comprising academics, journalists, end users, analysts and key industry figures (suppliers are specifically excluded).
8el's nominees this year consist of legal firm Morgan Cole, chartered surveyors Gerald Eve and the Women's Royal Voluntary Service (WRVS). They were nominated for the following categories:
Gerald Eve - Best Wide Area Network (WAN) Project (Private Sector). Gerald Eve chose 8el's WAN to replace their 256Kbps PSInet provided WAN. The topology of the network incorporates a 100Mbps circuit into their London head office and 10 x 2Mbps connections into their other UK based offices. The network allows Gerald Eve to run both voice (VoIP) and data over the infrastructure.
Morgan Cole - Best converged network project. This solution involved a Next Generation Network (NGN) ready WAN and centralised internet breakout, which connected their 6 sites together using both 2Mbps SDH and 10Mbps LES technologies. 8el supports Quality of Service (QoS) across the network, which allows the customer to seamlessly run 'site to site' VoIP as well as their data traffic.
WRVS - Best Small Business Project. 8el implemented a WAN solution based on 2Mbps circuits into their two main sites and private contended ADSL into five smaller sites.
Other finalists in these categories include the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Cheshire Police, Standard Bank, ROK, Edmund Nuttall, Ashurst and Christian Aid.
The winners will be announced and presented at a gala awards ceremony in Mayfair, Central London on Thursday 7 September.
