At least 10% of business users set to switch ISPs in 2008

At least 10% of business users set to switch ISPs in 2008Around one in ten UK business broadband users has chosen to switch internet service providers (ISPs) over the last six months, with more likely to do so over the first half of 2008, new research has revealed.

Of the enterprises who have either switched ISPs in the past or intend to do so in the future, 40 per cent cited cost as the most important reason for their migration.

In addition, 19 per cent stated that quality of service was the most pertinent factor driving their decision, while 13 per cent pointed to customer service levels.

Furthermore, a significant number of the respondents to the Point Topic study revealed that they look to take advantage of contract cycles offered by ISPs in order to sign up for the most cost-effective products.

Commenting on the implications of the findings for ISPs, Oliver Johnson, chief executive of Point Topic, said: "They need to continually improve the quality of their customer service and reliability of their broadband lines," he said.

"That is what most businesses when asked up front will say is most important to them. However, price is also a major driver too when it comes to swapping."
