Home-working through VoIP - key means of reducing stress and increasing efficiency

Home-working key means of reducing stress and increasing efficiency’The growing number of businesses turning to online communications systems to provide more flexible working practices are not only saving themselves money but could, according to experts, be boosting their employee's health levels.

According to the latest figures from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) around 42,000 Britons believe that they are suffering from work-related stress and that this is making them ill.

Furthermore, self-reported work-related stress, depression or anxiety account for an estimated 13.8 million lost working days every year.

One of the best ways for employers to reduce stress levels among their workforce and therefore their productivity levels, is to adopt technologies which allow for home-working, the International Stress Management Association (ISMA) has advised.

In addition to the NHS, the uptake of voice over IP (VoIP) telephony systems among UK businesses is currently booming, with the top-end London retailer Fortnum & Mason the latest firm to invest in the technology in a bid to increase productivity and cut back on phone bills.
