Fortnum & Mason roll out online communication systems

Fortnum & Mason roll out online communication systemsThe luxury department store Fortnum & Mason has become the latest enterprise to seize on the advantages of online communications systems.

In the run-up to the busy festive period, the world famous department store has confirmed that it has invested 24 million on upgrading its London store, including creating a single wireless local area network for all of its data communications.

The upgrade features a "future-proof local area network and structured cabling which will benefit our business, staff and customers alike"; said the company's interim head of IT, Mahshid Rafizadeh.

Fortnum is also looking into adopting Voice over IP (VoIP) technology at some point in the near future in a drive to cut costs and improve communications further.

Earlier this month it was announced that Regent Inns has signed a new 1.25 million contract for VoIP and Wi-Fi services to be introduced into its 100 nationwide sites and head office., representing the largest multi-site VoIP deal so far signed in the UK.
