8el to deliver cost effective data network as a stepping stone towards TA Millard’s corporate VoIP strategy
Reading, UK, February, 2007 --- 8el has secured a contract to supply engineering consultancy TA Millard with a fully managed Wide Area Network (WAN), centralised ISP connectivity and co-location facilities.
TA Millard, who maintain 8 offices staffed by 130 UK employees, selected 8el primarily due to their ability to roll out a cost effective, upgraded WAN over private un-contended DSL, as opposed to prohibitive cost of leased lines into remote locations such as Norwich and Ipswich. In addition, the PBX's on several TA Millard sites were running out of capacity and coming to end of life. 8el's solution provides a clear migration path from the ageing PABXs to using VoIP and accessing the benefits of Next Generation Network services.

Due to go live in April 2007, the solution will provide a fully managed, QoS enabled WAN with sites connecting into the 8el core using private ADSL or SDSL. The head office based in Norwich will also have additional ISDN backup provided. 8el will also deliver a centralised Internet gateway using their ISP service. This service will enable TA Millard to co-locate their managed firewalls, plus application and web servers within one of 8el's secure, controlled co-location environments, delivering direct Internet connectivity from the 8el core.
8el's private SDSL (Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line) service provides TA Millard high-speed, secure, "always on" access designed for the needs of small to medium sized businesses. In addition, SDSL can be utilised as a backup connection to leased line and LES connections.
