MORI votes for 8el data network

Reading, UK, April 21st, 2005 --- 8el has secured a 3 year contract worth over £250,000 to provide Britain's leading social research agency MORI – (Market & Opinion Research International), with a new ‘Class of Service’ enabled Wide Area Network (WAN) and ISP connection for their UK and Ireland operations.

MORI who are currently behind key research identifying the latest voting intentions in the 2005 general election, chose 8el to provide their data connectivity in order to improve efficiencies, deliver faster, more secure data access between offices and increase network resilience.

8el’s solution, which will be fully installed at MORI by August, will consist of a new WAN encompassing their 7 UK and Ireland sites, direct ISP connection from each site and centralised co-location facilities based at 8el’s data centre in TeleCity, London.

The new network has been designed to cope with the rapid growth in data usage experienced by MORI in-line with the company’s continued expansion. In addition to bandwidth, 8el’s solution will facilitate the smooth roll out of centralised core applications, accessible to users from any MORI site. For improved security and data transit speeds, 8el’s solution also includes un-contended access between sites, guaranteeing a quality and consistent user experience.

Previously, MORI’s network infrastructure involved all UK and Ireland offices having to route their Internet traffic via MORI house in London. Utilising 8el’s co-location service, based at TeleCity’s state-of-the-art data centre, MORI will receive centralised, direct access to the Internet from each site, removing a potential single point of failure from the network.

Scott Phillips, Head of Infrastructure at MORI stated “Our key driver was to upgrade capacity of our network in line with our growing usage and business requirements. We needed a solution that was both high quality and resilient but still cost effective. 8el’s solution met all our requirements while being fully scaleable to adapt to our future needs.”

8el’s resilient network will deliver un-contended ISDN backup at each location, terminating within the 8el core. MORI will also benefit from 8el’s highly trained support team, who offer a single point of contact for customer services available 24/7. Backing up the 8el solution, is a comprehensive service level agreement guaranteeing 100% service availability.
