NTL number porting capability is added to 8el's growing portfolio

8el increases number porting capability

Reading, 19th May 2009 -- 8el has successfully ported countless ranges of local telephone numbers to its network for its customers looking to either move out of area (whilst taking their numbers with them) or migrating onto 8el's managed, network based VoIP system.

Historically these numbers were limited to BT as the originating number range owner; however 8el has completed the necessary steps stipulated by Ofcom, to include NTL customers, with COLT and Telewest to follow.

The first successful customer port preceded without a hitch from NTL and 8el's processes are now in place to include this as part of its standard project management procedure.

The main benefit for customers is that cherished and known local numbers can be retained and enhanced to remove the geographical boundaries typically associated with the BT local exchange. This removes any forwarding costs that would have been incurred for any company looking to retain existing numbers when moving "out of area".

John Rees, Commercial Director at 8el stated "Expanding our number porting range beyond BT is providing options to customers where alternative carriers have been used for inbound telephone numbers. The benefit for customers is that they can avoid communicating number changes to customers."
