8el launches Callport VOIP for businesses

8el launches CallPort VoIP for businessesOctober 16, 2007 -- 8el has announced the commercial launch of Callport in the UK, a VoIP service designed to give businesses the flexibility of VoIP combined with the reliability of traditional phone services.

Callport allows users to outsource the management of their voice services while retaining control over how the services are configured. Users also gain cost savings through free and low cost VoIP calls.

The service uses NGN (next generation networking) IP technology. This allows 8el to fully manage the service for customers, eliminating the need for them to employ dedicated staff or purchase expensive equipment.

Callport can be used in conjunction with existing PBXs and keyphone systems for customers who do not wish to move over completely to VoIP.

The service supports true hot-desking and virtual working environments. It is marketed to companies with between 50 and 5000 users, but can be scaled both up and down.

Available features include unified messaging, recording, listen-in and operator consol functionality.

The IP Freeport box can usually be installed with one visit to the customer’s premises and a system administrator can then manage the service via a PC screen, or remotely via the Internet.

8el is the trading name of Aggregated Telecom Ltd. The company is headquartered in Reading, Berkshire.
