Online threats to increase due to 'data proliferation'
Data proliferation will cause online threats to increase, potentially placing wide area networking systems at risk.
While a significant amount of malware was previously written for Windows systems, now hackers are looking to target Android devices, while Apple has boosted its security by establishing a closed environment, IT security consultant Kevin Wharram believes.
Mr Wharram explained: "So online threats are going to increase [in general], because of the rising amount of people using data, having access to mobile phones and being willing to share data."
He went on to say that numerous people are willing to share their data, even though they do not understand how it can be utilised.
Recently, a representative from Mozy claimed that it is becoming more important for companies to back-up their data in order to boost security.
Claire Galbois-Alcaix of Mozy said that vital data such as personal communications and business files will be held on many personal devices, meaning that they should be backed up accordingly.
