Businesses can make savings with SIP, expert says
Firms with VoIP services can make significant savings by using Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunking, an analyst has insisted.
SIP is VoIP technology that enables firms to conduct voice calls over broadband connections, with Trefor Davies from the Internet Telephony Services Providers' Association (ITSPA) describing the services as being as reliable as traditional phones.
Mr Davies explained: "The main benefit is cost – it is [far] cheaper to use SIP trunks then it is to use ISDN or analogue. It is simple to switch to SIP trunks and it runs on your internet connection and these internet connections do trim a good deal of the costs."
His remarks come after a survey by the website WhichVoIP found that more companies are now including VoIP in their business operations.
The site discovered that 75 per cent of all international communications are now hosted by the technology, showing that the services are replacing traditional systems for many firms.
