Virtualisation 'moving away' from fixed products
Virtualisation is moving away from fixed products, brands and platforms, one organisation has noted.
Companies with wide area networking strategies are now looking at private clouds, public clouds and hybrid clouds, alongside the different pieces of technology that make the infrastructure a reality, Techworld has underlined.
John Dunn, security editor of Techworld, warned that there are many issues that may arrive with cloud computing.
Mr Dunn explained: "Public clouds are tricky because it may be tricky for companies to employ – there may be regulatory issues and worries about the technology."
He commented that, once a firm buys into the cloud, it is challenging to break its relationship with the platform provider and migrate to another.
Last week, a representative from Mozy advised that businesses can utilise cloud recovery services throughout their wide area network to provide them with extra flexibility.
Claire Galbois-Alcaix from the company stated that cloud recovery services give firms more scope to get back up and running if they are hit by a flood or a fire.
