Domain Name Services
As part of 8el’s WebPort solution 8el are able to manage your Domain Name portfolio. The Domain Name System (DNS) is the underlying structure of the Internet by allowing the usage of domain names or hostnames (i.e. 8el.com) to access websites on the Internet and send email by translating human readable domain names into IP addresses (such as 87.236.249.235). This is an essential part of the Internet as networking equipment requires an IP address for delivery information.
8el offer two solutions for Domain Name Services:
DNS Full
The DNS Full solution is designed specifically to meet the challenges and complexities of maintaining a full DNS zone file. 8el will manage and maintain all resource records associated with the Domain Name delegating control to authorised users where required. DNS Full is delivered through Melbourne IT configured, maintained, and operated global name servers. This is the same platform used for global DNS resolution by the .com and .net registry. The DNS Full platform does not use open source code software, making it less susceptible to security vulnerability identified in other DNS platforms. And as it’s a high capacity network, Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks pose limited threats to your site.
DNS Basic
The DNS Basic solution is a URL redirection service used to point new Domain Names to existing ones for Web traffic, (only one URL record or IP address can used). No individual resource records can be created for DNS Basic making it unsuitable for Mail servers which require MX records, and any other unique host names. Alternatively the URL for the domain can point to a holding page.
